Rejecting a claim because the speaker's situation or interests allegedly make it biased.
A circumstantial ad hominem treats a person's affiliations, incentives, or personal circumstances as enough to refute what they say. Those circumstances may justify closer scrutiny, but the claim still has to be tested against its evidence.
