Having more confidence in a judgment, estimate, or ability than accuracy warrants.
Overconfidence can appear as overly narrow estimates, exaggerated certainty, or inflated beliefs about performance. Calibration improves by recording predictions, using ranges and probabilities, and comparing confidence with actual outcomes.
