Probability describes how likely an outcome is under particular information or assumptions. It gives us a way to discuss uncertainty more precisely than words such as “maybe” or “almost certain” alone.
A probability is not a promise about one event. A delivery with a high chance of arriving on time can still be late. Understanding probability means knowing what the number describes, how it was obtained, and what it does not guarantee.
